Spanning over an area of 2368 Acres, Gulberg was developed in five phases: I, II, III, IV and V. It was planned by S.A. Rahim, Chairman Lahore Improvement Trust during 1950 – 1954 as a low-density spaciously laid-out housing scheme. Main Market and Liberty Market were constructed around 1954 and 1967 respectively to provide shopping facilities to the residents.
